Goodbye, Yankee Stadium...Hello Autumn

2
I'm going to start this post with a quote from one of my favorite songs - Don Henley's "Boys of Summer."

Nobody on the road
Nobody on the beach
I feel it in the air
The summer's out of reach*

(*I admit that the first time I heard this song was the Ataris version of it, which came out in 2003. Click to continue reading...

The "other" number 12 in New England

6
I am not a patient man. At all.

I suppose it's a combination of being 1) a man, 2) Portuguese, 3) Irish, and 4)stubborn. I liked Dark Knight until that part where Harvey Dent becomes Two-Face. It should have ended right there. Cue the credits, check out the sequel in two years. Instead, it dragged on another hour, and by the time all those people were trapped on the ferries, I just wished both of 'em blew up simultaneously and ended it right there. The Revolution still left Canada without their first win within the borders of our northern neighbor, but did manage to get a point against Toronto FC on Saturday night.

Taylor Twellman scored the 95th MLS regular season goal of his career to give the Revs a first half lead, but Chad Barrett struck back for Toronto in the second half and the Revs left Canada with a 1-1 draw.

DC Ousts Revs from Open Cup

2
The New England Revolution fell short in their quest to defend last year's U.S. Open Cup Championship Tuesday. Opting to rest the majority of their starters and not even bothering to bring a full bench, the Revolution fell, 3-1, to a D.C. United side that was playing their best lineup available.

The Revs fell behind just four minutes into the match after 2007 MLS Golden Boot winner Luciano Emilio headed a cross from Bryan Namoff past Revs goakeeper Doug Warren to open the scoring. Click to continue reading...

1
NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- It took penalty kicks, but the Revolution overcame a resilient Crystal Palace Baltimore (USL-2) on Tuesday night to advance to the semifinals of the US Open Cup.

Kenny Mansally gave the Revs an early lead, but Baltimore evened it up fourteen minutes later.
