Dunga’s Last Stand

7
Dunga could be seeing his days numbred as coach of the Brazilian national team. The road is not very easy for the Canarinha as they face an inspired Chilean side in Santiago, they wil then follow that up with a fairly accessible match against Bolivia at home. The result sounds accessible [...] Click to continue reading...

How much is Ar$havin Worth??

1
Here he is.. you can have him for £24 million!! Yesterday Barcelona bid £12 million and was shot down like a dodo bird with Zenit saying he's worth £24 mill.

This strapping 27-year old fellow lead Zenit St Petersburg to the UEFA Cup victory. In the final he managed to tally two assists in their dominating 2-0 victory against the Scottish side Rangers. Click to continue reading...

I’m tired of rumors starting

2

The see-sawing saga of Adebayor continues. And against my better judgement, I'm bringing it up again. There are other things to comment on. But first, the Togan international looks more and more like he will remain at Ashburton Grove for the 2008/09 season. Why do I think that? Because it seems like Arsenal simply won't sell him, having reportedly turned down a £25m offer from Barcelona, and requesting £35.

Barca continue spree with £23.5m right-back: Liverpool and Chelsea left behind

3
Pep Guardiola is determined to make his mark on world football as he continues to spend, spend, spend at Camp Nou. Having already spent £6m on Manchester United's Gerard Pique, £8m on Palmeiras' Henrique, £11m on Sevilla's Seydou Keita and £13m on Villareal's Martin Caceres, the new Barca manager is still spending as he continues to [. Rafa Rubbishes Money Reports

0
Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has described reports he has demanded a £50million transfer kitty as 'total rubbish'.

Reports on Tuesday suggested Benitez was demanding a £50million war chest to enable him to sign David Villa, David Silva, Gareth Barry and Daniel Alves.

Benitez has brushed off the speculation, outlining the fact that Sevilla star Alves has already agreed a deal to join Barcelona to prove the reports have no substance. Click to continue reading...

Strategic Transfer Sales Come At A Price

2
The phoney war is nearly over, and the real business is about to start.

The vast majority of the transfer rumours which are the staple diet of the press and gossip websites can be dismissed as just that: rumours.

But now, as Euro 2008 and the latest round of South American World Cup qualifiers draw to a close, and the transfer window creaks open, the more fanciful stories will fall away and be replaced by more concrete tales of how the latest unknown imports from darkest Africa and former Soviet republics have always been diehard supporters of their new club, and that their dream has come true with the donning of the red/blue/white shirt - provided it is stuffed with bundles of used tenners. Rumor: Defender snubs big English clubs

1
Looks like all those rumors linking Daniel Alves to a move to England to play for Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United or Tottenham will be for not as the Sevilla full-back is said to have signed a deal that would take...

Early bird transfer speculation worms (pt 2): Daniel Alves, Fernando Amorebieta, Kakha Kaladze, Jonathan Zebina, & Francesco Modesto

7
Continuing from yesterday's post. Time to talk defense... sort of.

Daniel Alves, RB/RM/RW, Sevilla FC - I don't know why I punish myself, but what the hell. After the death of Antonio Puerta, it looks mission impossible for anyone to snatch the 24-year-old Brazilian from Sevilla. He would certainly solve any issues we have with the right side of the pitch. Click to continue reading...

Weekend Preview - August 24th, 2007

3
La Liga kicks off this weekend and I am going to highlight three games. We start things off with a bang as the Madrid derby sees Real host Atlético. It has been revealed that new signings Arjen Robben and Gabriel Heinze will not make their Real Madrid debuts despite my feeling that at least Heinze would start. However, goalkeeper Iker Casillas has been included after injury, while six other summer signings have also been named to the squad - Christoph Metzelder, Pepe, Javier Saviola, Jerzy Dudek, Royston Drenthe and Wesley Sneijder. Right back fever

1
There's been much interest in right-backs of late!

Cicinho's on-again, off-again transfer to Roma seems to be finally complete. It seems that Roma went to great lengths to sign him, going from a 5 million euro offer to 8 million and finally 9 million with 2 million extra based on performance.

Chelsea have given up on Daniel Alves after offer upon offer has been knocked back by Sevilla. Click to continue reading...

Latest Transfers Update (21st Aug 07)

0
Chelsea continue to throw their money around and build on their ability to field 3 first-class teams (talent-hoarding, hehe). They've offered Sevilla 30 million euros for Daniel Alves, I wonder if the temptation will be too much for them.

Tottenham have put together 15 million euros in a bid for Riquelme, a steal for such a quality player. Click to continue reading...

I Actually Didn't Want to Post Tonight...

5
... but I'm realizing that in this fickle game we call blogging, one day missed is all it takes to fall greivously behind.

So, without further ado, here's a summary of today's news:

- No Open Cup glory this year, either: the Harrisburg City Islanders defeated DC United reserves 1-0. (Anyone else find the phrase "City Islanders" funny? Click to continue reading...

Alves demands Chelsea move

1

Daniel Alves' agent has asked Sevilla to lower their valuation of the Brazilian full-back to pave the way for a dream move to Chelsea.

The highly-rated defender is keen on a switch to the Premiership next season and Chelsea have already reportedly tabled a £14 million bid.

But Sevilla are thought to be holding out for a fee closer to £20 million.
