Daily racism/violence updates

6
I embedded a video of the craziness in Spain and Barca and Espanyol the other day. But, like only soccer can do, there's more.

Apparently Tottenham was abusing Sol Campbell. If not racist chants, than homophobic ones. And Scotland has had some racist chanting.

But some are taking it further than words. Click to continue reading...

Man City bought by Arabs, super rich Arabs

1
The new dude in charge is Sulaiman Al-Fahim (right) and he says he wants to be the new Abramovich.

Oh man, it should be crazy times in the EPL. Within hours of taking over, City had made bids on Villa, Gomez, Berbatov and Robinho.

One deal became finalized, the one for the Brazilian that was the largest British transfer ever. Click to continue reading...

Sir Alex The GETAWAY Driver As United Illegally Taps Up Spurs Berbatov!

3
Absolute craziness on the night of the transfer deadline! Sir Alex Ferguson was the getaway driver in an astonishing smash-and-grab raid for Dimitar Berbatov that left Spurs seething last night. On a dramatic transfer deadline day, Tottenham claimed United had illegally hijacked Manchester City's surprise £34million bid for striker Berbatov – which was accepted – with Ferguson [. Edu's series of unfortunate events

3
The young guy's looking pretty sharp in the new uni, eh?

Too bad a failing airline nearly kept from arriving in Glasgow.
Zoom Airline, which Edu was scheduled to fly, went bankrupt the day before he was due to leave for Scotland.
The delay won't affect his playing time on Sunday though. Click to continue reading...

Hypothetical: Worldwide World Cup Qualifying

1
I was reading a few threads on Bigsoccer about possibly expanding the World Cup, which is something that was considered by FIFA a few years ago. It actually almost seems kind of inevitable given the almost certain expansion of Euro 2016 to 24 teams. It's sad because 32 teams is the perfect number to set up a 16 team second round. Photo of the Day: Three hour delay!

Last night was ridiculous. Our unofficial official blog photographer Chris Leon captured some of the craziness, including the shot below during the 2-hour 54-minute delay. You can see additional shots from last night on the Video & Pics page.

Blanco “Issues” Apology

Chicago Fire midfielder and designated player Cuauhtemoc Blanco issued an apology in regards to last week's craziness in the US Open Cup that he caused. "I sincerely regret my inappropriate actions during the game against D.C. United on Tuesday. I disappointed my Fire teammates and coaches, D.C. United players and staff, Major League Soccer, the U. Euro 2008 is over (and Switzerland becomes once more a peaceful country)

1
Congratulations to Spain! The Spanish team was consistent all throughout the tournament, giving classy performances against Italy, Russia and Germany; a promising team that can aim higher now. Euro 2008 is over and so are the 21 days of football craziness in Switzerland. It's been a great success and has Click to continue reading...

US Open Cup report, Round 2

2
Unfortunately, the tournament won't visit Atlanta this year as the Silverbacks fell 1-0 in Miami. Atlanta FC didn't make it out of the USASA qualifying round down in Jacksonville. It's a shame, I love this tournament and the craziness that can happen in it.

We've had one upset tonight, as Cleveland City scored two goals in extra time to defeat the USL-D1 Thunder in Minnesota. Click to continue reading...

MLS Weekend Preview

3
These previews will be fairly brief as I am about to travel this weekend back east for a week and I have a couple things lined up for today that I have to do. So on with the games and the predictions I suppose. Columbus Crew at Chicago Fire: Both teams playing well as of late, [...] Click to continue reading...
