Fulham Unveils Johnny Haynes Statue At Craven Cottage

1
The greatest player in the history of Fulham Football Club was immortalized Saturday when a statue of legend Johnny Haynes was unveiled outside Craven Cottage in west London. Haynes, who played a club-record 658 games and scored 158 goals for Fulham between 1952 and 1970, died in 2005. Pele once called Haynes the best passer of [. Click to continue reading...

We're stroking the ball around ...

By JAMES CLARKManager Gianfranco Zola is 2 for 2 in Premier League matches (the Carling Cup loss to Watford notwithstanding!), but even more so than the results, it's the type of football we are playing that's winning new converts and reinforcing the convictions of the old guard of supporters. Fulham vs West Ham United: Match Preview - 27/09/2008

1. Why Are We Here Again?

Not an existentialist query, just a plea for confirmation.
Jesus, what a couple of weeks.
Managers being sacked, speculation swirling around Upton Park, well-dressed Italians consolidating their influence, the mutated offspring of once-dead court cases rising from the grave, West Ham scoring freely at home with good football and the US Government stalling over a $700billion package to move Wall St in it's entirity to Jerusalem where Paul McCartney plans to symbolically batter it down with his ex-wife's prosthetic leg whilst singing 'Give Peace A Chance'. Bolton Preview/Thread

0

Good morning folks. Another important fixture on the road at the Reebok against Bolton. Not going to be easy, this one, as the squad is probably a bit tired from its trek down and back to Kiev. That'll be no excuse, says the boss in part of the match preview. Bolton has given us difficulties in the past, especially at the Reebok.

Nice, well-deserved snippet re Lee Cook. (Also nice to see other players, not just for themselves). And of course, always nice to see people giving to, not just taking from, QPR!

Photo of the Day: In Cuba EJ is The Louis Vuitton Don

22
As TOR reader/informant FERENGi® pointed out to me via email this is straight out oxymoronic, communist-stuntin'. You see Eddie Johson does not care to limit his couture to Craven Cottage or any one place in particular. After all he is a grown-ass man and Cuba is not his momma.

On one hand I'm thinking perhaps US Soccer should have given the team one of those awkward cultural sensistivity classes like they did that one time on The Office and maybe mention something about how we're viewed as materialistic and "capitalist pigs". Click to continue reading...

In one of the more intriguing contests of the weekend, Arsenal are looking to rebound from a lackluster start to the season. The Gunners struggled to defeat West Brom by a single goal in their opening match and then lost to Fulham at Craven Cottage last week.

Newcastle, meanwhile, are enjoying a fine start to the 2008-09 campaign.

Premiership Prospectus 2008/9 -- Fulham

Craven Cottage (dopamine clouds not pictured)

2007/8 Review

On April 19th Fulham lost 2-0 to Liverpool and appeared to be sunk. Three wins later and they had hauled themselves from the morass, by virtue of a better goal difference than Birmingham. Manager Roy Hodgson, who had taken the post at Christmas, received the plaudits for their escape. Click to continue reading...

Gallas: Twente Is “Must Win Game” + Poland Bonus For Fabianski

Why did Arsenal lose on Saturday? Shabby performance? Strong Fulham display? Lack of quality in the midfield?

0
When Arsenal won 3-1 at Craven Cottage last season, the midfield consisted of Fabregas, Hleb, Flamini and Rosicky. None of the quartet featured on Saturday (two sold, two injured) and the team subsequently flopped in a match that they would normally be expected to win. Let's give Fulham some credit for . Great news for Arsenal fans: Midfielder set to return for midweek clash

Arsenal craven at the cottage as Wenger gets found out

Reaction to yesterday's 1-0 defeat by Fulham has been universally critical of the team and the manager and it's very difficult to try and find anything positive to say at all.

It was as poor a performance as I can remember, not even the 2-1 defeat at Craven Cottage a couple of seasons ago was that bad.

One of the greatest pleasures I have had covering US players in England the past few years has been the progress of Reading's two Yanks, Bobby Convey and Marcus Hahnemann.
