WVH Watch List: Coaching Hot Seat

4
There really is no need to brag about getting something as right as saying a coach should be fired at anytime in the year. I know other sites will say they called it and what not but I like everyone else knew Fernando Clavijo's time in Colorado was about two years too long. So with that [...] Click to continue reading...

Clavijo Stepping Down

0
Fernando Clavijo is resigning as coach of the Rapids effective immediately, according to the Denver Post this morning. No real shocker here as Clavijo left the club earlier last week to be with his family in his native Uruguay. He mentions that he wants to help the club but needs to be with his family [. New Poll

0
As some of you have already noticed, there is a new feature here on WVH, the WVH Poll. I will try to add a new poll every couple of weeks. Right now its about the coaching hot seat, so far Fernando Clavijo leads the race. Feel free to add your comments in here if you [...] Click to continue reading...

Galaxy Coaching Search Short List

26
This will sort of go down like the Dallas coaching search from earlier in the year. Only difference will be the owners of the LA Galaxy are probably a bit clueless about who exactly they want to bring in to coach their club, and FC Dallas knew who they wanted from day one (or five [...] Click to continue reading...

Clavijo Leaves Colorado For Family Issue

2
Not even 24 hours after a dreaded vote of confidence, Colorado Rapids head coach Fernando Clavijo has left the club to return to his native Uruguay today to attend to a family medical emergency. According to reports he will not be back in time for the club's weekend match with Kansas City, but he did [. Click to continue reading...

Two Colorado Updates

0
A couple Colorado Rapids updates for you all this afternoon (or evening depending on where you are). First up from the desk of Steve Goff. He's reporting that Fernando Clavijo "thought he would be fired" but did not in a recent meeting with executives from the club. Instead he was pretty much given an ugly vote [. Clavijo On His Way Out?

4
It is possible that in the coming days we could see another coaching change in Major League Soccer. This time it will be one that has been long over due in the minds of many around the league. According to Steve Goff, the Colorado Rapids are set to fire Fernando Clavijo and promote assistant Gary [.. Click to continue reading...

My Thoughts On The Galaxy Mess

4
What a mess huh? Most of you know my position about Alexi Lalas. Solid player in his prime, terrible in suit in the front office. I've been that way from the beginning with Lalas and to a lesser degree with Ruud Gullit. Today as we all know both have left the Galaxy either on their own accord [...] Click to continue reading...

WVH Coaching Hot Seat Update

4
Yes, I know it has been a while since the last update for this watch list. But unlike the rookie watch list, this one needs only to be tackled every now and then. The one of the last updates was right around the time that Dallas decided to give Steve Morrow the boot. No one has [...] Click to continue reading...

Tuesday Kicker: Five Up, Five Down

3
Time for another edition of the stock watch in Major League Soccer. People seemed to enjoy the first edition last month, so I decided to bring it back again like I had hoped. Anyways, to refresh your memories on how this all works. Everything including players, coaches, GMs, officials, and whatever else I think of are [. Click to continue reading...

Weekend Recap: East Still Working The West

4
Anytime you have a weekend match-up that pits two conference leaders against one another, the game sort of takes over the weekend. That was the case this holiday weekend. Eastern clubs are still leading the way over the west, though one western side did get some revenge at home in some sweet fashion. Click to continue reading...

WVH Power Rankings: Revs Continue Pace

3
Week 14 is down the drain. Due to my lack of time these will be a bit quick this week. 1. New England Revolution (30 pts., same) - No need to move the Revs, their home dominance over Toronto clearly showed that they aren't ready to give up the top spot. Oh yeah, and Taylor Twellman [...] Click to continue reading...

Week 12 Recap: Blowout Weekend

4
Not a good week to be on the losing end of the stick, then again no week is a good time to lose. But this week losing sides almost seemed nonexistent in this one. Losing teams only muster up two goals. Yes, just two goals for the losing sides this week, a big-time 17 goals [...] Click to continue reading...

FC Dallas Set To Hire Hyndman

3
I know that headline has been written once before, or maybe in another form but it appears that this time it is for real. Some of my sources say FC Dallas is set to name SMU head coach Schellas Hyndman as its new head coach and will announce the signing later this week. I wasn't told [...] Click to continue reading...

Monday Kicker: MLS Stock, Five Up and Five Down

2
Hope everyone is enjoying their Monday here. If you've been watching some Euro 2008, I'm sure you have been enjoying the day. Very entertaining game between Holland and Italy. Kind of odd to see Italy get beat 3-0 like that, but kudos to the Dutch for their play. Anyways, I thought today would be a good [. Click to continue reading...

Dallas Continues Coaching Search

9
There really is no idea here about what General Manager Michael Hitchcock will do with the open coaching position with FC Dallas. By now most agree that he fired Steve Morrow a couple weeks back due to the teams terrible performance in front of a sold-out crowd. When Hitchcock was hired by the Hunts (FCD owners) [. Panic Button Being Pushed In DC?

3
The morning after a loss is always an interesting thing. For DC fans, that reality is starting to [. Click to continue reading...

Reaction To Morrow’s Release

3
So it's been a busy afternoon here in Dallas. Its not everyday a coach in town gets canned. I must say I was a bit mixed about this firing. I thought there was plenty of heat on Steve Morrow but I didn't think it was the right time to start placing the blame for the club's [...] Click to continue reading...

Morrow Given The Pink Slip

0
Some breaking news this afternoon here in Dallas. I just got word (and a release) that FC Dallas has fired head coach Steve Morrow. Tuesday Kicker: Locker Room Issues

MLS Weekend Recap: Statement Week

5
Week number eight is in the books and for some teams it was a statement week. LA took their circus on the road and dropped a five-spot on [...] Click to continue reading...

Monday Kicker: A Weekend of Firsts

3
Week number seven is in the books. I think this weekend will easily go down as a weekend of firsts for some players and clubs. WVH Coaching Hot Seat

9
After the first couple weeks of the new MLS season I thought we'd see a drastic change in the coaching hot seat list and to a degree I think we have. Bold Season Predictions

Its time once again for the WVHooligan Bold Season Predictions. WVH Power Rankings: Coaches

Last of the power ranking installments before the main club version in a week or so here. Today we get the coaches. Just as the days before, keep up the discussion. Mariner Actively Looking For A Coaching Gig

16
No secret that New England assistant coach Paul Mariner(left) wants a head coaching gig in the MLS. The questions are most now days of where and when rather than if. The Way Too Early 2008 Season Predictions

Christmas Wish List For All MLS Clubs

28
Naturally I know what most MLS Clubs want for Christmas. A better 2008 than 2007, even the Dynamo is included in that because they will want a repeat along with more hardware in 2008. I had been trying to figure out a way to write up needs and wants in this off-season for each club and [...] Click to continue reading...

Worst MLS Front Office: Colorado Rapids

I never like writing things like this really but when it is due it has to be done. Clavijo Is Still Employed? But How?

0

MLS Pink Slip Talk

The playoffs may be in full gear right now but it is also a good time to discuss which MLS coach will be fired for not getting his club to the post-season dance. Monday Morning Free Kicks - Either You’re In or You’re Out

13
Pretty much a goal filled weekend in the MLS. One more club punched their ticket to the post season dance, while others are tightening the race for the final couple spots. I guess it would be wise to start with the action on Sunday first. In doing so I will start with the Houston-LA game. I [...] Click to continue reading...

Monday Morning Free Kicks

3
Lots to take away from this past weekend in the MLS. Only one team punched their ticket to the post season, in a very nice fashion I must say for Chivas.
