Standard Liége take Belgian Super Cup

Two early goals from American Oguchi Onyewu helped Standard Liége to a 3-1 win over Anderlecht to take the 2008 Belgian Super Cup. The match is the traditional curtain-raiser for the Belgian season and pits the previous season's Belgian League and Belgian Cup winners. It's the third Super Cup title for Les Rouches but they remain a long ways behind 12-time winner Club Brugge in the all-time ranking. Click to continue reading...

World Club Rankings - Top 25 - 1977

In the quarterfinals of the 1977 Champions Cup, Soviet club Dynamo Kiev defeated Bayern Munich 2-1 in aggregate, ending Bayern's three-year run as European champions. Teeratep to Belgium

Thailand international Teeratep Winothai is set to become the second player from the ASEAN champions to join a club in Belgium when the 23-year-old moves to second division side Lierse SK.

The 23-year-old, currently the leading scorer in the Thailand Premier League with nine goals for BEC Tero Sasana, will follow in the footsteps of international team-mate Kiatprawut Saiwaeo, who recently joined Club Brugge on-loan from English Premier League side Manchester City. Not to be outdone by Ajax, Bayern Munich matched the run of the Dutch club by taking its third consecutive Champions Cup title in 1976. This time around, the game took place in Glasgow, Scotland, and Bayern defeated St. Etienne 1-0 on a second-half goal by Franz Roth. With 2010 World Cup qualifying in full swing, South America's Uruguay allowed Venezuela to take an away point. Venezuela came from behind after Uruguay scored.
