0
Last night on the Conrad Show, Hillcrest made his radio debut and at one point asked Jimmy which Wizards player would be the best on Dancing with the Stars. Jimmy said Kerry Zavagnin was the pick and even noted that Kerry had actually been approached by the show's producers about the possibility. Well, now you get to decide. Click to continue reading...

Claudio talks about what it was like to have his life story thus far condensed into book form.

In general, he says it felt a bit strange to have a record of his life, that he relived a lot of memories when he read the book and that he hopes that his story can will interest anyone who is curious about how soccer affected his life as a child from a poor family to a player with a successful career. A Footnote in US Soccer History

0
As Tim Candon points out over on the SWakeChat blog, those of us that attended the RailHawks v. Red Bull NY pre-season friendly back on March 28th will likely be some of the last folks to see Claudio Reyna play a competitive soccer match.
It has been widely reported that Reyna will retire from playing soccer at a press conference today in New York. Click to continue reading...

reyna retires; fans thought he already was

0
as the news broke across the american soccer world last night, the complete reshaping of the new york red bulls was put into the bright lights.

with the addition of at least 3 new players (possibly 4) into the starting line-up as early as this saturday (depending on visa issues), the departure last month of jozy, and now the departure of claudio, the new york red bulls are a very different team than that which opened the season. Kindness is cruel

I was there when Claudio Reyna retired. People might think - wait, he's not retiring until later today - but I'm talking about his first retirement. I was in Hamburg, Germany in 2006 when Reyna announced he was retiring from international competition. I looked around as Reyna told the room his decision and realized something. play time is over

2
you could say we gave it a valiant effort, but in the end, it's still a loss on the road against the basement team in a game that players knew was their last chance to show osorio that they shouldn't be benched or cut outright.

- angel finally scored again. you could see the relief on his face after the goal. Click to continue reading...

Pre-season begins in earnest

1
Odd to be thinking this, never mind writing it, so soon after the previous season ended in South America (and delayed congratulations, by the way, to forwards Damián Mansó and Claudio Bieler, and manager Edgardo Bauza for ensuring some Argentine glory in the Copa Libertadores as Liga de Quito beat Fluminense on penalties last week), but [. All speed, no glory?

0
Dane Richards played a key role in New York's 1-1 draw with Chivas USA on Saturday. He gave Chivas USA fits in the first half with his speed and play along Chivas' left side, as he drew a yellow card and set up the set piece that led to the Red Bulls' only goal.

Just how good is Richards?

Chivas midfielder Jesse Marsch isn't about to pencil Richards in on the league's Best XI anytime soon. Click to continue reading...

Half Time: Red Bull New York at Chivas USA

0

A choppy first half with neither team finding their rhythm ended with the teams tied at one apiece on two rather strange goals.

The first came from a direct free kick in the 26th minute when the speedy Dane Richards bested Jonathan Bornstein yet again down the right hand side to draw the foul.

Question of the Day: Time For Reyna To Go?

3
You know most of the time I don't worry about a player seeing his time run out with a club unless I have a strong connection with him, know him, or have followed his career. Claudio Reyna actually doesn't fit into any of those categories. Don't get me wrong, I've been a fan of Captain America [...] Click to continue reading...

Oh my sweet Carolina

So I never wrote anything else about the draw at Toronto. So here it goes: Scott Sealy, it was a darn shame to see you miss a header while unmarked in the box. Bummer. Kevin Hartman came through in the clutch; what else is new. Good to see a shutout from the D after last week's embarrassment at the hands of the Crew.

Video: Juan Pablo Angel is Ready for His Close-Up

0
Juan Pablo Angel's spending some of his injury downtime in front of the camera for ESPN's Euro 08 coverage. The clip above was from yesterday; you can see him again today in the Portuguese v. Germany post-game show. Good job by RBNY & MLS to keep up his profile while he's on the shelf.

So um, what's Reyna doing with his downtime? Click to continue reading...

Lopez a DP for KC?

We've heard it many times over the past couple months. Argentine forward Claudio Lopez coming to the MLS for some club's designated player tag.
