AC Milan 4-1 Lazio: Is “Biancocelesti” Italian for “Miracle Cure”? (Serie A Matchday 3)

1
You know it's funny: it seems that whenever AC Milan are in trouble, all they need to lift their spirits is a little Lazio "rejuvenation cure". Just around the same time last year, the Rossoneri had just played an abysmal UEFA Champions League match against Celtic Glasgow (in which Dida infamously faked being mortally hit [. Rossoneri Resurrection, AC Milan 4 - 1 Lazio

0
Calling all Milanista, I got it wrong and admit it but what's more important is understanding why.  The key to today's victory was manager Ancelotti getting back to basics. Take a look at the starting XI, leaving Ronaldinho and Andriy Shevchenko on the bench was the right move.  Ancelotti would instead go with young Pato and Marco Borriello and a Pirlo-less midfield that supported the front [. Serie A Match Day Three - Predictions

4
Can Roma and AC Milan turn things around this week?  I think Roma will and must as Mourinho and Inter already have that 3 point lead which cost Roma the title last season.  AC Milan are having injury trouble already so Clarence Seedorf will have to fill the absence of Andrea Pirlo in the midfield and [. Wonder goal: Ronald de Boer

3
Ronald de Boer was one of those players of whom coaches never knew exactly what his best position was. They said it about numerous players: "he is great, but they need to invent a new position for him...". Milan Win Berlusconi Trophy

1
AC Milan added another trophy this preseason defeating Juventus 4-1 to win the Berlusconi trophy.  Goals were scored for Milan by Marek Jankulovski, Filippo Inzaghi, and 2 by Massimo Ambrosini.  Not only did Juventus lose this game, but Giorgio Chiellini was injured in a collision with Gennaro Gattuso, and will likely be out for at least a month. Trofeo TIM 2008-09: Juventus, AC Milan, and Inter Milan Pre-Season Showdown Favors the Rossoneri

2
You just gotta love the month of August in Italy, and the regular occurrence of triple-team tournaments. The "Triangolare" format (as they call it down in the Old Boot) seems to be an Italian specialty because I have yet to see it appear regularly elsewhere in Europe (feel free to prove me wrong in the [. Milan win Trofeo TIM

5

Today at the Stadio Olimpico in Turin the Trofeo TIM was held between Juventus, Inter, and Milan. It was a triangular tournament with each game lasting 45 minutes, and each match goes to penalties in case of a draw. 3 points for a win, 2 points for a win in penalties, and 1 point if you lose in penalties.

Wonderful tribute to Jaap Stam

2
Jaap Stam said farewell to pro football in Zwolle, the city where his career started. Guus Hiddink, Dennis Bergkamp and Clarence Seedorf were present. There was a real chance Stam's tribute game "fell in the water", as the Dutch say. Cruyff's testimonial was ruined by Germans ( 8-0 defeat against Bayern Click to continue reading...

ESPN Deserves Praise For Excellent Champions League Coverage

5
So much focus is put on the Champions League Final and what happened during the game that it's often easy to overlook the admirable job that ESPN2 did behind the scenes yesterday. Their production was excellent and what I was most impressed by is that they continued the coverage all the way through until after Man [. Click to continue reading...

Derek Rae Interviews Clarence Seedorf

4
This obviously doesn't have anything to do with soccer in England, but it's still an interesting interview. I was surprised that Seedorf pulled out of Holland's team for Euro 2008 as it looks to be the best Dutch team in recent years, but he clearly has a difference of opinion regarding himself and the way he plays with Marco van Basten, the national coach. Could Seedorf return to Ajax?

6
Could Clarence Seedorf return to his beloved Ajax, the famous Dutch institution where his trajectory originates? No, at the moment there appears no chance but as the player himself admits he could well end his playing career at the club that engendered him more than 10 years ago. Sky Sports has reported that the 31-year AC [. Click to continue reading...
