Borja tallies

2
Sorry I'm just getting to this but I just ran across it.

Seems like an American scored a goal for Chivas de Guadalajara's second-division side. And it wasn't El Gringo either.

On Monday, Carlos Borja scored the only goal for Tapatio in a 1-0 win over Academicos, Atlas' Primera A side. Click to continue reading...

SuperFracture

1
Injuries can happen at anytime to anyone, so blaming a tournament for a disastrous injury is a bit of misplaced blame.

However, that's probably little consolation for Chivas de Guadalajara supporters, who not only lost out on the chance to play in the semifinal round but lost their starting goalkeeper for the entire Apertura 2008 season. Click to continue reading...

Superliga Group B Matchday 2 Stream of Conscious

4
New England Revolution 1 v Pachuca 0
* I want to take a look at the disallowed goal a second time. It appeared to me that the two players who were offsides at the delivery of the ball were not the two that ended up playing the ball.

* Good through ball by Aguilar for Pachuca's first half, but even better from Reis to not only save but to eventually hold on. Click to continue reading...

Superliga Matchday 2 Group A Stream of Conscious

DC United 2 v Atlante 3
* Well so much for Atlante not taking this competition seriously. No shape in the back at all for DC United and Wells was going to be beaten 1 v 1. A minute later, it should have been 2-0 to Atlante but Wells was right there to catch it. At least United players tracked back this time.

SuperLiga game #1: Chivas 2 - DCU 1

0

It was a game of two halves, wasn't it? That, or a game of two hit posts and a missed penalty.

United fell 2-1 to Chivas de Guadalajara tonight at RFK Stadium in its first game in Group A SuperLiga play. Chivas got goals from Omar Arellano (24th minute) and Gonzalo Pineda (72nd minute), while United's lone tally came from Luciano Emilio's foot (76th minute).

Video: Chang & Vergara make another bet

0

You may remember that last year Will Chang (United's Co-Managing Partner) and Jorge Vergara (Chivas de Guadalajara's owner) made a friendly wager prior to the second leg of the Copa Sudamericana series between the Black-and-Red and Chivas. The bet was that whichever owner's team lost would have to have their hair cut immediately following the game.

Wooo. After a whole 3 days without a game, DC United is back in action in RFK against Chivas de Guadalajara. Let me say this, as an avid follower of the USMNT, having seen quite a few US v Mexico tussles, I can say that I'm not a big fan of Mexican football [...] Click to continue reading...

Red Bulls 1, Chivas USA 1: A Supporter's View

0

Last week was an interesting week to be a New York soccer fan. On one hand you had the Showdown in Chinatown, a memorable charity game in Manhattan that featured some of sport's biggest stars, while on the other you had the Red Bulls beating Chivas de Guadalajara in a friendly. Except for Claudio Reyna playing in the charity match, there was something for Red Bulls fans to be happy about.

The Red Bulls Rebound

I won't deny it. I thought the Red Bulls were finished.

Watching D.C. United shred the Red Bulls to the tune of a 4-1 rout two weeks ago, I couldn't help but see the defeat as the first step in a total collapse.

Bulls vs. Goats & Other Things That Need Tickets

Just a heads up that tickets for a slew of non-league games are on sale now, including tickets for Red Bull New York & Chivas de Guadalajara in Arizona aka The Barnyard Cup. I know it's stretch but it'd be nice to see a few fans supporting the New York in this one so if you are an MLS fan in exile get your ass there because this circus is in town for one night only.
