Had we lost a match in which we were outplayed, outpaced and [...] Click to continue reading...

Great Job Kid(s)… Now Don’t Get Cocky

1

With the sweet memories of the win over Chelsea fading, the mid-week Carling Cup fixture is upon us today. But before that, a few more thoughts from this past weekend. While it is a great result indeed, Arsenal still has much to prove. This is the second win over a "big four" squad this season, but that doesn't subtract the five losses that this team has already suffered - two more than last season.

Drogs to sit for 3

1

Drogbacite has been handed a three-match ban for his Robin Hood-like generosity against Burnley in the Carling Cup last week.

That Lingering Coin-Toss

1
Already a news cycle away, the matter of Didier Drogba's Carling Cup coin-toss at Stamford Bridge lingers.

Arsenal should be in the Championship. If footy bloggers ruled the universe. Brazil's search for the country's sexiest fan. Italy's all-refugee football club. Didier Drogba Strikes Back

And not in a good way. Drogba scored a nice goal during Chelsea's Carling Cup defeat at home to Burnley yesterday - his first of the season - but had a coin thrown at him by Burnley fans while celebrating. Last time we won a penalty shootout? Guess.

A decade ago against Ipswich. Where? In the Carling Cup, of course.

So, Chelsea got its just desserts Wednesday, falling 5-4 in a penalty shootout to Championship side Burnley in the fourth round of the league cup. The Drogs had put the Blues ahead after 27 minutes, but a combination of wastefulness from Chels and endeavor from Burnley saw the Clarets level on 69 minutes.
