Juan Roman Riquelme’s Angry Goal Celebration

26
Boca Junior's Juan Roman Riquelme had been arguing with 21 year old Boca fan Augustin Pozzetti earlier in this home game vs Racing, so after volleying a 60th minute winner the playmaker ran 55 yards to point an angry finger at Pozzetti. Unfortunately, Pozzetti's fellow Boca fans then turned on the non-believer and a fight broke [. Click to continue reading...

The (possible) return of the Prodigal Son, and Riquelme to be charged?

Having fallen slightly behind over the weekend, it's worth mentioning briefly here now that discussions were going on on Sunday between José María Aguilar and Ramón Díaz to solve River's current crisis by bringing back the most successful manager in the club's history. His contractual situation with América de México is the sticking point at [. Click to continue reading...

Apertura ‘08: Round 17 scores and scorers (so far)

Boca Juniors edge closer to the title but Tigre, after ensuring River Plate remain bottom, are still right on their heels. Gimnasia La Plata climbed to the top of the Promedio relegation zone and dragged Colón towards it, should the sides below them have a run at some point. The other relegation clash, in Jujuy [. Edging closer

1
Two matches now remaining, and Boca Juniors are keeping their noses just in front in the championship race. On Sunday they completed their clásico against Racing in La Bombonera - unlike Huracán against San Lorenzo in the same stadium the day before - and the result gave them another three points to once more overtake [. OUTGOING: Schelotto Back to Argentina?

8
We received this by email. Terra is a pretty well respected site in Argentina. Schelotto leaving would be a huge blow to Columbus's CONCACAF Champions League dreams unless he were replaced with a player of equal quality at that position.

On to the email:

Ok i have some information, Rigth now Martin Palermo is not coming to MLS, he got 4 month of contract with Boca Junior, But there is some body from MLS dealing with him to bring Palermo to MLS. Click to continue reading...

It's getting closer to the end now. There's a clásico which will prove important at both ends of the table(s) in La Bombonera on Sunday, which will be the second derby of the weekend in the stadium: Huracán aren't allowed to use the Tomás Ducó after all following the death of Rodrigo Silva on Sunday [. INCOMING: Martin Palermo to Houston Dynamo?

15
A friend in Houston sent this to us. It looks back to statements the Argentine made when Palermo was in Houston.

Martin visited the city of Houston this past summer, he was here for the FREE KICKS MASTER event and one of our guys was able to interview him in regards of a possible move to the MLS and maybe the Houston Dynamo.

This weekend's matches produced 23 goals, and haven't done a lot to make it any clearer who the eventual champions will be. Boca have a slim lead now thanks to their victory, whilst Tigre lost, and Newell's are now out of the running, but Lanús are closing. For all the results, step this way... Primera División [. Boca lead

With three matches remaining, Boca Juniors have taken the summit of the Torneo Apertura 2008 thanks to a 2-1 win in spite of Juan Román Riquelme having a penalty saved away to San Martín de Tucumán. Combined with Tigre's 3-1 loss to Estudiantes in La Plata, the result was enough to send Boca top - but just [. Click to continue reading...

The end is nigh. The title won't be decided this weekend but Newell's, Vélez and Colón could drop out of the running if they lose. Things might look muddier by Saturday night: that's when San Lorenzo take on Lanús in the Nuevo Gasómetro - an away win would catapult last year's Apertura winners into the [. What have Southampton F.C. got in common with Boca Juniors?

3
No, it's not the creaking of the shelves in their trophy room. Nor (since the demolition men did their stuff at the Dell) is it a tightly-packed stadium whose stands almost reach the touchlines. And whilst the Boca faithful would no doubt have loved Matt LeTissier, the current playmaking situation on England's south coast isn't [. Click to continue reading...

Lucas Viatri: Goalscoring Phenom/Accused Salon Burglar

Hard to imagine there are greater things as a 21 year old lad in Buenos Aires than being the next goalscoring superstar and scoring the "1″ in a 1-0 Superclasico in your debut year - even if half the city despises your very soul. Which I suppose is what makes these accusations seem pretty bizarre. Click to continue reading...

Hard to say what was the biggest surprise this weekend: River winning after twelve matches; Argentinos vs. Estudiantes producing a performance (from one side at least); Vélez beating Boca in the Monumental, or the upshot of that score, which means the leadership of the table is now shared between San Lorenzo and Tigre with four [. Racing got an away win which will help them immeasurably in the relegation battle; Estudiantes edged out Independiente; both Rosario clubs lost on Friday night, and River were involved in a good match in which it wasn't them who did the throwing away of a good lead, for a change. After 14 matches of utter dross (plus a few in the Copa Sudamericana) Diego Simeone signed off as River Plate boss on Sunday evening having served up one of the matches of the season.

Copa Sudamericana 2008: Boca & River out - the goals

River Plate followed Boca Juniors out of the Copa Sudamericana last night to emphatically deny CONMEBOL the all-singing, all-dancing, superclásico semi-final they always seem to wish for in this competition. Not so scary anymore?

There was a popular belief surrounding South American football until last year. The world's top 25 soccer clubs, Nov. 3, 2008

With Liverpool, last week's No. 1 team, losing last week the top spot was up for grabs. But who to move into it? Read on and you'll see.

1 (2). FC Barcelona
They were second going into last week, they won both games they played (at Benidorm in the Copa del Rey and at Malaga), so it only makes sense that Barcelona are, in our humble opinion (some would say it's not so humble but they obviously are just jealous), the best soccer club in the world at present.
