Tickle v. Tackle - Nuking the Inbox

0
Hot on the heels of last week's "TvT: MLS Edition", here comes a big clearout of some of the stories that have been clogging up the inbox as of late. It's not just a standard clearout--I think this level of clutter calls for the nuclear option . . . BOOM! Social Distortion It's a social media world, and we are all social media girls (or boys, or something). Click to continue reading...

Journalist As Stoked For Red Bull Arena as I Am

0
The NY Daily News' Filip Bondy is a soccer man. Unfortunately he has to write more about basketball and other sports more often --hey, a guy's gotta get a check-- but make no mistake, he is down. What he is not down with is Giants Stadium, just like most people.

He blogged today about how he is like most Gotham footie fans and can't wait for the Western Conference Champion Red Bull New York to get into their new digs because "there is nothing worse than viewing soccer from the sealed pigeon roost that passes for the press box at Giants Stadium. The Don Speaks and a Reporter Listens. And Writes.

4
So I just read this piece on Don Garber's speaking engagement at USC last night on 100 Percent Soccer. Allegedly at one point The Don said something he may have had second thoughts about and followed it up with "I hope there's no media people here, they'll get me in trouble for this." Personally I don't think what he says was that controversial or too off base but for his own reasons he thought better of it afterward. Click to continue reading...

I wanted to point out this great collection of pictures available at Auswärtssieg! (away win!) a German Schalke blog. Unfortunately for Auswärtssieg! Schalke went down 2-1 to Leverkusen, but that shouldn't prevent us from enjoying these great pictures. Here are a few to whet your appetite: You can look at the rest of them [. New Season, New Look from Bumpy Pitch

0
Allow me a moment to big up my guys Beans & Dunny at The Original Winger for their new Fall collection from Bumpy Pitch. They've got new BP logo tees, they brought back a few of the classic NASL logo shirts and went waaaaaay back to the days of leather balls for a few ASL teams. They're all 100% dope and 100% designed and manufactured in the USA (they're helping to keep our people working y'all). Click to continue reading...

Freddie Ljungberg: Already Making a Media Splash

9
See here's the thing with signing Freddie Ljungberg. In addition to what he brings on the field, he brings a name and looks off the field. You can call me superficial if you like but I have to say that when Hollywood gossip sites as popular as Perez Hilton are reporting on still unconfirmed MLS transfer talk because you look better than me in a pair of underwear I ain't mad at you. New Blog on the Block: Salt Lake Trib's RSL Blog

0
The Salt Lake Tribune becomes the latest newspaper to step into the MLS blog thunderdome. Launched just in time for RSL's debut playoff run and helmed by Micheal C. Lewis --not to be confused with NY soccer writer Michael Lewis, although they do like they could be relations-- this daily dose of soccer news, chatter and information makes a nice companion to Real Salt Lake's official team blog Behind the Shield. Nutellagate

You may not be aware that Deutsche Welle has really ramped up their coverage of the Bundesliga in Ballspeil this season. I had often wondered why they didn't have particularly strong coverage, but things are changing and you should definitely bookmark their site. I am particularly enjoying Sean Sinco's blog. Boro see off Salisbury

0
Stevenage saw off Salisbury as they bounced back from that defeat at Eastbourne with 3 points. The 2-0 win puts Boro into the top ten for the first time this season, but it was far from convincing against a Salisbury side lacking confidence. Graham Westley picked his strangest team of the season so far electing to drop [. Click to continue reading...

Salisbury Preview

0
Graham Westley's side face Salisbury City tomorrow afternoon as they look to bounce back after a 2-1 defeat last time out away at Eastbourne Borough. Lyle Taylor's last second strike at Priory Lane gave Boro their sixth defeat of the season and cemented Boro's mid-table position in the Blue Square Premier. Click to continue reading...

Boro 3-2 Mansfield

Well you can't say that the football isn't entertaining at Broadhall Way this season. After 6 goals where shared last weekend when Boro drew 3-3 with York, another 5 were scored tonight as Boro beat Mansfield to move into the top 10 of the Blue Square Premier for the first time this season (subject to [. Where are they now?

With so many players leaving Broadhall Way during the summer, here is where some of them ended up. Tyrone Berry Peter Taylor signed Berry last January as Craig Dobson's replacement, but he was released in the summer after failing to command a regular place. Berry ended up being offered a short term contract by Gillingham, although has [. Click to continue reading...

Winning run halted as York hold Boro

0
Stevenage's winning streak of four games is over as York City held them to a 3-3 draw this afternoon at Broadhall Way. Graham Westley made two changes from the side that beat Grays on Thursday night. After a tough win against Grays on Thursday night, Boro are back in action tomorrow afternoon when York visit Broadhall Way. Platini’s outrageous attack should be given short shrift

2
There is little down that at the top of world football there are some complete idiots. At the very peak you have Sepp Blatter, a man with more faux pas than Boris Johnson, and whose ideas are often the ridicule of the media and blogs everywhere. On the European stage, you have Michel Platini, who is a [. Click to continue reading...

Clint Dempsey X T.I.A.S.: The Final Chapter

4
If you haven't seen it, the fifth and final chapter of This is American Soccer's epic Clint Dempsey mini-series "The Game Don't Care" was posted yesterday. You should definitely check it out if you haven't and if you didn't read the first four installments you should quit sleeping on it. Personally, I think it's the best & most in-depth piece on a US player this year. Click to continue reading...

Premature Schadenfreude Alert

1
Not that I'm excited about the prospect of a global financial meltdown and a Second Great Depression, but how awesome is it that Manchester United's shirt sponsor looks like it will be the next to implode? As I just read on the Blogs:

The message is loud and clear: AIG is toast.

The season so far…..Part 1

0
We are just under a fifth of the way through the season and it's already been a rollercoaster ride. New manager Graham Westley was in his second spell in charge of the club and had assembled a strong squad. After a good pre-season, expections were high and the "buzz" was back at Broadhall Way.  That good feeling though [. Click to continue reading...
