Chivas USA took three points at the HDC against the Wizards Saturday.

The good.

Alecko Eskandarian. Four goals in seven games, only four of these seven games were starts.

Maykel Galindo played. Even injured and rusty, the guy is awesome. His attacking runs and style of agressive play is missed.

First question (as always this season) is who is healthy for the match?

Zack Thornton, Lawson Vaughn, Raphael Wicky, and Eric Ebert are all out. Maykel Galindo may make it to the bench. Jonathan Bornstein, Carey Talley, and Paulo Nagamura all suffered individual light injuries, nothing to serious, but may have limited participation in this game.

Carver Says TFC Playing For His Job

Toronto FC head coach John Carver has placed himself in front of the firing squad, saying that he doesn't deserve his job next season if TFC can't make a respectable showing in their final five games of the season.
The second-year franchise started the season off well, using solid player acquisitions and strong play at home to beat everyone's early expectations.

Former Chivas USA goalkeeper Brad Guzan made his official debut with Aston Villa on Wednesday, starting between the pipe's in the English club's disappointing 1-0 loss to Queens Park Rangers in the third round of Carling Cup action.The 2007 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year, Guzan made four saves on the day for the Villains but was beaten decisively by a Damion Stewart header at the hour-mark.

It was an odd week in the standings. The top teams from last week did well and so did most of the teams near the bottom. The middle-of-the-pack, though, had some downright terrible losses as DC, New York and Chicago were all embarrassed soundly.

It had a slight affect on the table, though the top and bottom didn't change too much.

Still tied for last in the West, but only two points out of third.

How bizarre.

But Landon Donovan is the centerpiece of this week on my end. Three more goals for him brings the season total to 19. That's the second highest total since 2002. Yowza!

That's also five more than Kenny Cooper, his nearest pursuer in the golden boot race.

Well, I almost wish still kicking had not invited me to write the blog while he is enjoying his weekend, because, at the end of it all there were very few positives to write about. Really, there was nothing in this game that hasn't been in a number of other road games. Poor defending, rash challenges, ineffective passing, inadequate attacking were all features of this 2-0 loss to Kansas City.

He has a post on the recent layoffs the KC Star is doing. One of those names should stand out to Wizards fans, and that's Bob Luder. Luder, along with Pete Grathoff have been covering the Wizards for the past few years.

That's where the Los Angeles Galaxy sit with a lowly 26 points. The poor suckers lost to 2-0 to Kansas City on Saturday, a game that was also noteworthy for its 'goal of the year' candidate strike by Davy Arnaud.

The remnants of Hurricane Ike are expected to miss Kansas City today meaning reporters there can focus on another overblown phenomena - David Beckham - during today's 2 p.m. game (live on Prime) between the Wizards and Galaxy.

A big crowd is expected despite the iffy weather to see Becks; Galaxy fans just hope it's a case of 12th time lucky.

Josh Saunders, a goalkeeper the Galaxy signed to a developmental contract in 2005, but never played a game for the club, has signed on loan with the team for the remainder of the season from Miami FC of the USL.

The Grants Pass, Ore., native hooked up with the team today in Kansas City ahead of the Galaxy's game Saturday against the Wizards.

I should probably mention this trade: Herculez was sent to Kansas city in exchange for early draft picks. Not to say that I won't miss the first player to score at Dick's; he has a lot of fans, but as it stands now, this probably comes out in the "win" column. We don't NEED him. He helps to have around, but we don't need him.

With David Beckham and Landon Donovan in tow, the LA Galaxy has the same exact record of the expansion San Jose Earthquakes.

The Galaxy almost had their first win in quite a while on Saturday.

FC Dallas midfielder Victor Sikora has suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee and will miss 4-6 weeks of action, according to club officials. The injury occurred during FCD's 1-1 draw against Kansas City on Saturday when the former Ajax star was tackled by the Wizards' Sasha Victorine just minutes into the second half.
