To all those who lambasted me for the last column, it is not Silvestre I am having a pop at. I said I don't mind the player because I think he will add experience to the squad. Plus he will probably spill Fergie's tricks over to Manure and will help when we play them next.

I have nothing against Silvestre coming to Arsenal. He is cheap, has experience and a useful back up. I personally do not think this is the signing Wenger was talking about last week. I was surprised by Eboue's performance. He looked much more comfortable in the middle. I am not saying he is a long term solution, but would be a good player to bring on or rotate against 'lesser' oppositions. Granted his shooting is dire for a seasoned professional, but his surging runs are very welcome especially when we need someone to take some pressure off the defence and peg the opposition back. Not pretty but got the job done. It is the first competitive match, and in Europe against sides usually more technically gifted than most EPL teams, it will always be tricky. Coming into a match after a long lay off or lack of continuous playing time is bad enough. Coming back against Sevilla away makes it even worse.
