Just watching the BBC news channel, and the BREAKING NEWS is that Honda could be pulling out of
Formula one racing.
This would make six spaces on the grid, and could spell the end of the sport as we know it, if
Toyota follow suit.
I know this is not Saints or Football related, but shows us all how finely balanced sport is,
whilst we are going through this credit crunch, and whilst people will slate Lowe for the way he
runs the club, as long as the club keeps running, should be priority for us all, it could be
sometime soon, when English football clubs fold one by one.

It has been confirmed that the F.A. Cup game with Man Utd will be shown live on Setana 1 on Sunday
the 4th Jan at 4pm. So even if we lose, we are guaranteed a half a million pay day, and a win,
well, that would be amazing.
But if it is good enough for the likes of Burnley and Derby who won last night, there is no reason
why we can not do the same.

Below is the draw for the third round of the F.A.CUP and for SAINTS it could well have ended before
it has begun, as we have Man Utd at home. In cup competitions we do not have much luck against the
red devils but I have fond memories of the day in which Man Utd turned up as themselves but left as
Sheff Wed when they went 3 nil down and said they could not see each other.

In our last game we had all the game but came away with a draw, in this match we were on the ropes
for the most half, only finding our feet in the last throws of the game. But even with only getting
that point, SAINTS have moved up one position.
But yet another goal less game at 8-1 for the result.

This weekend is the last round before the big clubs join the competition, The draw below could
include SAINTS opponents in the next round, but every small team it is where dreams are made, and
financial coffers are filled.
Barrow created the first shock of the 2nd round by beating Brentford last night and Huddersfield
eased into the 3rd round.

Mick Channon who started his career at Southampton and stayed loyal to them even when relegated
(something that players of today could be reminded of) is 60 today. Having won the FA CUP with
SAINTS in the 70's and scoring 185 goals in over 500 league games in which he was famous for his
windmill celebration (pictured), he has now moved onto become a very successful horce race trainer,
but as SAINTS FANS we salute a great of our club.

CHARLTON 13/10 DRAW 23/10 SAINTS 23/10
It seems a relatively high price for a game in which Charlton are in the bottom three and the
SAINTS have a much better away record than home. 4 out of the 5 wins which we have come away from
home. Charlton how ever have 3 of their 4 wins from home, could this just mean a stale mate and a
draw is the only conclusion.

I have in my previous posts talked about the virtue of the nil nil draw, all games start that way,
and on average you get 8/1 for it as a correct score. I must also admit that I didn't see it coming
last night, but looking back on all the matches played. There were 7 goal less games out of about
40 top flight games, double what you normally get at the weekend.

SAINTS 7/5 DRAW 12/5 PLYMOUTH 21/10
Well I said last time that 17/2 was a good price for Saints and they delivered. So I have been
looking at some other bets and prices, to see if I can find some more profit for the Saints
fan.
My first bet is on how many goals Saints will score.

I had said that the odds of 17/2 were far too good to miss, and considering the high priced wins
there has been this season so far, we had every chance of winning.
And we did, with two goals from wright phillips, the saints came away with all three points, this
does not get us too far away from the drop zone but we are heading in the right direction, and some
of my pals from the Saints Forum have a few good tidy profits.

Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier has revealed he fears his former club will continue to struggle
this season if they persist in playing youngsters.
Saints are only one place off the drop zone in the Championship and fielded eight players aged 21
or under in Saturday's 2-1 defeat by Wolves.
