Chivas draw Dynamo in finale for 2008

0
CD Chivas USA got a 90th minute goal at home to draw Houston 1-1 in the last UMLSCC game for 2008. Houston had led since the 52nd on a De Rosario penalty kick which saw Dan Kennedy ejected for denying a goal scoring opportunity. The goal for Chivas came from Jim Curtin.

Exciting end to a game but Houston ends the season as the UMLSCC. Click to continue reading...

Dynamo thrash Galaxy

0
Houston jumpstarted with an own goal gift from LA. The De Ro and Ching added goals in the 20th and 23rd and Houston held off a 13 shot attack. The 3-0 win clinched Houston the top spot in the MLS West Playoffs and also eliminated LA from playoff contention.

Next up for the Dynamo are Chivas USA. Click to continue reading...

Old Quakes beat New Quakes

0
Stuart Holden won it for Houston in the 93rd minute and the Dynamo won 2-1 over expansion San Jose. While a draw would have helped Houston retain the title, it would also have been San Jose's first "result" in UMLSCC play. The Dynamo won despite losing Kamara in the 11th minute to an ejection. At the time of the ejection Houston was already up 1-0. Click to continue reading...

Dynamo push away DC

0
It was not a pretty game but Houston held onto the title after a 0-0 draw. Unless you like to see yellow cards and think that is pretty anyway :). There were seven cautions and one was an ejection. Colors are pretty ...

Anyway, there were only 9 shots total in the game. It couldn't have been fun to watch. Click to continue reading...

Dynamo take out Rapids in Colorado

0
Houston defeated Colorado 3-1 with Brian Ching scoring two goals in the first 9 minutes.  Actually all four goals were scored in the first 19 minutes.  Colorado saw Connor Casey ejected in the 53rd minute.  The Dynamo have won for only the third time all season on the road.
This is the 16th title for Houston. Click to continue reading...

Rapids hold Revs; Defeat NY in shootout!

0
Colorado held New England to a 1-1 draw at home after taking the title from the Chicago Fire the week before. New England still has only one road victory as a challenger in the UMLSCC.

This week Colorado traveled to New York and history would say that NY should walk away with the title. The Rapids were 0-2-7 (WDL) when playing on the road as the champions. Click to continue reading...

Fire take title; lose to Rapids

2
Chicago defeated NY 1-0 at home last week on a goal by Stephen King in the 36th minute.
This is the Fire's 17th title and the 29th time they have won at home. They are also now the 5th team to win 10 challenges at home.

Next up for Chicago was a trip to Colorado. Until today it had been 16 games since the champion won the title and dropped it the next game. Click to continue reading...

New York draw DC United

1
Red Bulls and United traded 26 overall shots, including 5 each on goal, but the result was a scoreless draw. All reports this game was highly entertaining with near misses and some good saves.

NY's road record in defending the title goes to 5-9-12(WDL). Not the most respectable, but not the worst (looking at Colorado). Click to continue reading...

Houston over Chivas; Rolled by Red Bulls

0
Last Wednesday night the Dynamo ran up another four goals, all in the first half. Result was a 4-0 whopping of Chivas USA and the top spot in the MLS West.

But on Sunday Houston lost their first MLS game since early June. This time it was the Dynamo being treated to a trouncing ... by the New York Red Bulls. Click to continue reading...

Seven goals in Houston victory; next Chivas

0
The scoring came early and often in the first half. RSL led 2-1 after 25 minutes but just ten minutes later the Dynamo were up 3-2 and led 4-2 at the half. The next goal didn't come until the 80th minute. Houston's win also jumped them past RSL in the MLS West for the top spot at 29 points. RSL have 27 points. Click to continue reading...

Houston over the Crew

1
The Crew outshot the Houston but the Dynamo made their only two shots on goal count for a 2-0 shutout at Robertson Stadium to keep the UMLSCC. Goal scorers were Brian Ching and Brad Davis. Moreno won goal of the week but I think it should have gone to Brad Davis.

Sorry I don't have much for this this week. Click to continue reading...

Dynamo defeat DC

0
After a second weather delay DC and Houston squared off on Wednesday. Only to have a delay of "lights out" for almost 3 hours. Also, again there was a heavy downpour. Seriously, this game should have again been postponed and replayed.

Ok, to the game. A road team won for the first time in this series. Click to continue reading...

DC United, Houston back to MLS play

0
DC United is probably really excited to get back to MLS play (now Wednesday as the Tuesday game date was pushed back). However I think Houston likes SuperLiga play. Houston, who have just four wins all season, won twice in the past week to advance to the SL semifinals - including defeating DC 3-1 this past Saturday. Click to continue reading...

DC crush Galaxy

0
United ran over Los Angeles in a 4-1 win that was seen nationally on ABC. There was also a huge crowd in DC, almost 36,000 packed RFK.

Jaime Moreno gave DC the lead on a PK in the 5th minute. LA evened up after 26 on an Edson Buddle goal. But then DC got the next three goals. Two from Emilio and one from Gallardo. Click to continue reading...

DC win with late goal

0
Gallardo and Emilio hooked up for the decisive, and deflected, late goal against San Jose. Emilio's shot deflected off defender Kelly Gray just two minutes from time. DC had the man advantage since an 83rd minute ejection of San Jose's James Riley. All the scoring came in the second half. DC scored first by Clyde Simms after a double deflection - Simms' second career goal - he scored last week too. Click to continue reading...
