Defoe transfer confusion

It seems now that Jermaine Defoe has only been signed on loan by Portsmouth, but that they hope to ratify the full transfer, along with the Benjani move to Manchester City, this week.

The move was announced by all and sundry as a permanent transfer for around £9 million. This wasn't denied by Tottenham or Portsmouth, but has now been admitted.
